His Story
He started out his professional career at Deportivo Saprissa, winning five national championships. After this, when he turned 23 years old, he moved to Spain to play for Albacete Balompié in the 2010-11 season of Spain’s second division but his team suffered relegation and he was transferred to Levante Unión Deportiva. His club ascended to Spain’s first division. Also, he was granted the League’s Best Goalkeeper award. Later on, after his brilliant performance in the World Cup Brazil with Costa Rica’s national soccer team, he was signed by Real Madrid in 2014. In the 2015-2016 season, he reached the peak of his career after setting a new record by not conceding a single goal in his first eight appearances in the UEFA Champions League, with 738 minutes, surpassing on March 8, 2016, the Dutch, Edwin van der Sar’s 657 minutes record.
